Celebrating Baby’s First Birthday & Our Third Cloth Diapered Baby With a Charlie Banana 3-Pack #giveaway (3/27)

36 Weeks Pregnant

My darling baby is turning one tomorrow and I can hardly believe it. Where has the past year gone? It has been a journey, giving birth while my husband was deployed, the doulas stumbling in ten minutes after she had made her appearance and learning to be a mother of three. She has been a ray of sunshine and a symbol of hope and strength for our family and especially for me.

With more than one child the once hard things become easier and new things become harder, but at the end of the day I am proud to be a mother. I love the photo above that was taken when I was 36 weeks pregnant last year and the road in the background is a beautiful symbol of the path we take as parents—narrow and winding, often uphill, but there is comfort in the evidence of feet who have walked a similar path before us. And the pride as we look back at how far we have come makes it worth all the rocks and stumbles we come across along the way.

Baby sister is walking, baby talking and eating everything in sight. She is social, loves to smile at everyone and rumor has it she has even convinced some of our friends to start planning for additional children. She is an influential little girl! She is the third baby to fuel our cloth diapering love and in honor of her first birthday Charlie Banana is offering a lovely giveaway of a Fluffy Love 3-pack ($60+ RV). These one size diapers will work from birth until well past their first birthday– usually until potty training for most children.

So I am curious, what has been your hardest struggle and biggest triumph on your cloth diapering path? Or has your cloth diapering journey not yet begun?

  1. The biggest struggle we faced with cloth diapering was not having newborn size diapers. We used disposables for the first month but he has not been in one since! We love the way cloth diapers look and feel and feel good that we are saving money and reducing our carbon footprint. I would say our greatest triumph has been sticking with cloth diapering. Our son will be one April 16th! We could definitely use a couple new diapers!

Happy birthday to your daughter and a Happy Mother’s Day to you too. I don’t remember if I read your birth story or not, but I have to say great job mamma! I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been. I also want to thank your family for their service to our country. It can be a thankless job at times but I want you to know our family loves and appreciates our military and their families.

  3. Our journey has ended….for now! We are hoping to be able to start it up again one day…been a long 5 years of trying though! :-(
