She’s Got Some New Shoes On & Suddenly Everything is Right for Halloween Night

Stride Rite Close UpI participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Stride Rite. I received products to facilitate my review and thank me for my participation.

I cannot help but have the Paolo Nutini song stream through my head as I write about shoes, because let’s face it. New shoes make people happy! My daughter is finally going to be something new this Halloween (I mention the costume she chose three years in a row in my recent article here) and we are very excited. Thanks to Stride Rite, she is all set for her school costume parade and trick or treating this week with coordinating, comfortable, visible shoes.

We are a Stride Rite family and I have been purchasing predominantly Stride Rite shoes for my children for the past five years. My kids may not have half a dozen shoes to match with every outfit, but I make sure they have a few different styles to wear and I feel good that they are wearing quality shoes to support their growing feet. They even come to be known by some of their shoes, like when my son was one-years-old his red Elmo Stride Rites were his signature shoes. He even wore them with his suit when he was the ring bearer at his Aunt’s wedding!

I cannot remember how I came across the brand at first, but all of my children have had wide feet that do not fit into most shoes. My oldest wore a wide or extra wide Stride Rite shoe for a good four years and little brother and baby sister are following a similar trend. I have not come across any other brands that properly support their wide feet while offering a good selection, so we stick with this brand that we know and trust.

Stride Rite Ariel Mermaid

Our little mermaid finally moved on to regular widths this year and has worn her new kicks almost every day since they arrived. After all, she needed to break them in a little before Halloween and they are mary jane style sneakers that work with her pants, dresses and skirts. The sparkles and one of her favorite princesses (that influenced her costume choice this year) make these shoes exciting, but unlike other glittery or sequined shoes she has owned in the past the embellishments should hold up a lot better with the leather trim in the toes where they would otherwise wear out.

She is counting down the days until her school parade and trick or treating and in the meantime we need to decide on what leggings and long sleeves she can wear underneath to keep her warm on Thursday without covering up her costume. What are some ways that you help increase your kid’s visibility and keep them warm for trick or treating in the evening?
