Kindergarten Here We Come ~Plus~ Macmillan Schoolies Book Set #Giveaway (7/30)

My oldest little darling is beyond excited to start “real” school. We did a preschool co-op with friends when she was three and she attended a part day program three days a week this past year, but now that she turned five she will be starting kindergarten this fall (and taking a school bus. I think she seems too little for the school bus, but that is a different story). She regularly asks “how many more days?” until school starts and we are getting school supply lists in the mail and it is all starting to hit me that her first day is just around the corner.

Moving from three half days a week to five half days a week should not be that big of a transition for any of us, but the word kindergarten seems so grown up. I am excited for her, but I have mixed feelings about the significance this has for our growing family. She is growing up fast and life will be difference once we have to plan according to a school calendar. She is getting more and more excited for it to all begin as we count down the days on the calendar and we did a drive by the elementary school today per her request.

Schoolies 2

We were able to sample the new Mac Kids Schoolies book set this month and it is fueling my daughter’s excitement. Her favorite book, without a doubt, has been the School House book where she can make her own little school and she has been lining up the characters and accessories in the classroom, lunchroom and playground as she acts out her upcoming adventure. She will need to make new friends since we were commuting on the military base for her previous program and now she will be in our local can you buy zovirax at the supermarket school district and she is a little shy in new situations so we have been looking at one of the other books and talking about making new friends.

As the weather continues to get more beautiful and some vacation time for my husband is just around the corner I hope things slow down a little so that we can enjoy out last weeks before we have a child in school. I know life will only continue to change as my children develop more independence and spend more time away from home, but I know how much I loved school growing up and my daughter has the same zeal to learn and make friends so I am more excited than nervous.

As summer winds down, how are you preparing for the upcoming school year?
