Cleaning Up Father’s Day Breakfast with Cascade #MyPlatinum

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating. The other products used to compare were products owned and purchased by the author.

Dishes. I do not mind washing them when it is a beautiful sunny day in the 70s where I can open the kitchen window, breathe in the fresh air and hum a tune while I scrub away. Unfortunately, my family seems to go through as many dishes as my girls go through outfits in a day (which is a lot) and the weather here in western Washington is overcast or rainy most of the year. So I let my dishwasher do the work for me most of the time, but my problem is that I inherited my mother’s you-might-as-well-have-hand-washed-the-entire-load method of pre-washing.

I am trying really hard to resist unnecessary pre-washing because it eats up more time and uses more water, but it can be hard to step outside of my comfort zone and trust that my dishwasher and detergent will stand up to the dishes that my family can dirty up in a day. I have tried different detergents over the years, and even tried making my own, but I have had the most success with the pre-measured packs. I like the Cascade packs I bought a couple of months ago, and like to try better versions of products I trust so I jumped at the opportunity to try (#sponsored) Cascade Platinum.

Cascade Comparison

The chart above shows the differences between the different Cascade pack formulas and the difference I was noticing in the shine of my stainless steel was probably not a coincidence. I am not sure what the additional ingredients are in addition to the Dawn used in the original formula, but it has been working well. I made homemade chocolate waffles for Father’s Day this year and snapped some before and after shots of our dishes at the end of the day.

Speaking of dishes and sparkling clean kitchens, Cascade is currently hosting a Cascade “My Platinum” contest, which is a four week Instagram contest this month (6/1-6/30) that encourages fans to upload photos related to the weekly contest themes. I am all over Instagram these days and it is so easy to take a post a picture from a smartphone and so easy to enter this fun contest. Cascade fans who participate will have a chance to win a weekly prize of a dishwasher or a grand prize of a kitchen makeover. They are only half way through the contest so there is still plenty of time to enter.

Cascade Platinum

To win, users have to both register and upload a photo with the #MyPlatinum hashtag and tag @MyCascade. Participants that have not registered will be disqualified from winning. Each week will have a 6-day entry period where Instagram users can enter the contest with their #MyPlatinum Photo. Cascade will choose two weekly winners and one final grand prize winner after the entry period has ended. Please be sure to include both the #MyPlatinum hashtag and tag @MyCascade in your entries to the contest! Visit the contest landing page ( for information on how to enter and submit images.
