Merry Christmas

Peace OrnamentMy sister arrived in the wee hours of the morning and I am excited to have my younger brother and sister with us this Christmas to try and make this time apart from Daddy a little less lonely. Christmas is my favorite holiday and this time of the year just makes me feel happier. It has added meaning for us since my son was born on Christmas Day two years ago tomorrow and he is a daily reminder of the gifts in my life that matter most.

I am still a kid in many ways and love gift giving and opening, but enjoy getting things for others just as much if not more than receiving gifts myself. It is a time of giving, time together as a family and eating lots of delicious food. I sit here as I wait for my first Christmas roast to become a delectable masterpiece in the oven, soaking in the peaceful feeling of nap time before I get ready to tackle the rest of our holiday meal.

Food is probably the most consistent family tradition for us during holidays or big events and we typically celebrate holidays with holiday meals at home and other celebrations at restaurants. Before my husband deployed we ate out quite often, including a couple of trips to Olive Garden, compliments of a gift card from his thoughtful aunt who wanted us to have some family time (that did not involve cleaning up dirty dishes together) before he left. If you are looking for a last minute gift idea Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse are offering a $5 bonus coupon for every $25 in gift cards purchased through the end of the year.

Before I head to the kitchen to get my bread dough rising, I want to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and hope that your families and little ones have a beautiful holiday together.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Darden. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

  1. That was a beautiful post. Nothing says holidays like family and good food.
