Welcoming Fall with a Flannel Pajama Pant Project

Now that my nausea is more or less under control and is only an occasional occurrence, I am feeling this eminent need to be productive and creative! After spending some time earlier this week looking though some of my craft books and quilting patterns, we ventured out to the craft super store and I inevitably came home a few digits poorer. Luckily, I have supplies to put together a few different holiday gifts and I finally have a task lamp for my sewing table.

My daughter had just as much fun looking at all of the fabrics and fell in love with a bolt of some fleece or flannel print every other aisle. She finally conned me into a couple yards of some Hello Kitty flannel and after stumbling upon some 0.99-cent pajama patterns we decided that would be the fate of the pink kitty fabric. After all, the days are starting to cool off and I feel fall creeping into the air. Besides the weather here seems to be chilly nine months out of the year, so flannel pajamas are a good closet staple for kicking around the house.

After putting brother to bed after lunch, I started to read through the pattern and we decided on which design to tackle. I started to cut out the pieces to make a long-sleeved nightgown, but then we changed our minds and decided that pajama pants would be better. I had never tackled pants before and I must say they were surprisingly simple. A couple hours later we had not one, but two pairs of fun flannel pajama pants after I dug up some leftover fabric from another project.

Does the fall and upcoming get you into a crafty mood? I’ve love to hear about projects you have tackled or that are on your to-do list this fall.

  1. I love fall. I do love crafting for fall too. It also becomes the busy craft show season, so I always try to craft more for that reason too. But who can resist making something for the kids while making other things to sell. Pants seem so intimidating, but can be really easy. I love them for that reason. One day I want to tackle shirts or dresses.

    • Pants were SO much easier than I expected! They would go even quicker with a serger, but it’s harder to work on the serger during my son’s nap-time, because it’s so much louder. Perhaps I will need to tackle shirts after I get through my holiday gifts.
