Abby’s Lane Hopscotch Has Come Back Around to TCDR

We are a month into the giveaway fun and you have made it back to The Cloth Diaper Report for the Abby’s Lane Hopscotch giveaway! To catch you up if you are just jumping into the game, I will be running a giveaway for a $25 GC to Abby’s Lane over the next few days after which the hopscotch game will continue over on a couple other blogs before wrapping up for the grand prize drawing for the Petunia Pickle Bottom Ergo Carrier. Remember you will receive an extra entry into the grand prize drawing for participating in my giveaway “square”, which you will mark off on the grand prize giveaway widget over on the Abbys Lane blog.

Note: I have gone from “Mom Brain” to “Moving Mom Brain” the past few weeks and in my chaotic brilliance forgot to hit “SCHEDULE POST” after I put this article together last week and clicked on the dates I wanted (you know, thinking that I could outsmart my “moving mom brain” madness). You will still have the three days to enter, so keep in mind the last day will overlap with the first day of DDL’s hopscotch square in a couple of days.

I feel terrible this is being published late, so to make it up to you I have added an extra entry opportunity in the Rafflecopter widget. What is your most memorable cloth diapering “mom brain” moment? Did you put the clean diaper in the wetbag and the dirty diaper back on your little one without realizing it? Put a diaper on backwards? Share your answer in the comments below and be sure to check it off on the widget once you have done so!

I don’t have any funny cloth diapering moments (yet). This will be my first cloth diapered baby and I’m due in October! 😀

  2. n a t h a n i a says:

Thanks so much for this giveaway! :) Could really use a build up for our stash

  3. n a t h a n i a says:

My mom brain moment: Sometimes I get into a relapse and my brain shorts out when dealing with cloth wipes. It seems that part of my brain wants to dispose of the cloth diaper and cloth wipes in the garbage while the other is trying to do a quick turn into the bathroom to wash it out.

I find myself divided causing my brain to short out and forget what I was doing in the first place. Sometimes the garbage idea wins and I end up tossing it in the garbage. Luckily the vision of a cloth diaper falling into the garbage jump starts my brain and I quickly grab it out!

  4. Tamara Sz says:

How about constantly forgetting to bring a wetbag along!

  5. Angela Heffner says:

I used a fitted diaper without a cover once because I was so sleep deprived. Needless to say, my son did not sleep long!

  6. bonnye sensenig says:

forgetting to unlock the front door- and going to grab the stroller with a toddler in the house who is OBSESSED with closing doors – needless to say- I went in the window.

  7. When I was pregnant with my first, I forgot to take my contacts out at night, then went to work the next morning with my glasses on. It took me until noon to figure out why I kept having moments of ‘vertigo’…

  8. Forgetting the wet bag and having a poopy diaper to stick back into the diaper bag.

  9. AlannaB says:

Baby needed a late night change and I was EXTREMELY tired. I left a poopy diaper on the changing table and knocked it over (poopy side down on the floor) the next morning :-(

  10. Therese Hart says:

I leave stuff by my purse all the time to remember to take it with me when I leave the house. I seem to still forget to bring it with me and it is usually the wetbag for dirty diapers.

  11. Samantha says:

Changing my son overnight I tried to put the diaper on backwards and couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

  12. Jessica O. says:

I am still new to cloth so I don’t have anything funny or forgetful *yet* I did forget to take the insert out of a pocket once before it went in the diaper pail. I find it easier to take a “warm” one out than a “cold” one! :)

  13. I’ve had too many to recall!

  14. Meredith E. says:

Forgetting a wet bag all the time. Running the wash without soap.

  15. I have forgotten to put an insert in one of my pocket diapers before. Not quite the absorbency I needed!

  16. Trisha W. says:

I was walking home from dropping my kids off at school and took a moment to call my mom. A chunk into our conversation I said, “Oh no, my cell phone fell out somewhere.” In my defense, I had recently had my phone fall off of it’s clip and didn’t realize it until I was making my return walk and discovered it on the sidewalk.

  17. Almost forgetting to put the insert into a pocket diaper… several times

  18. Megan Sipe says:

My contractor was coming by one morning to fix something in my house but I had to take my daughter to school so he was just going to let himself in. Out of ha it though I set my alarm. When the alarm company called me I had really bad mom brain and told them I had no clue who was at my house. So yeah I sent the police to my house on my contractor.

  19. Sarah Lapsley says:

On several occasions I’ve forgotten to put a cover on at night. I’ve even put her clothes and left the room before remembering!

  20. We actually haven’t started CD’ing yet because I’m due in two weeks, but random preggo moment – I wear comfy (and ugly) flipflops around the house. Last week I arrived at work and had been there at least two hours before realizing I was still wearing my house flipflops instead of work-appropriate shoes. Good thing I work at a desk most of the day!

  21. Seraphina Smith says:

The first time I used a side-snapping cover I put it on backwards and wasn’t sure why the wings were hanging out. I didn’t realize the tag went on the outside :o/

  22. Kaja N. says:

Turned the sprinkler on in the yard, forgetting all the diapers drying on the line!!

  23. Jennifer S. says:

Forgetting to tell the babysitter how to stuff a nighttime diaper…no fun to end date night changing sheets and baby’s clothing.

  24. I’ve forgotten to take the inserts out of the pocket diapers before washing them.

  25. Fitted without a cover was my dumbest CD move. Going to work wearing two different shoes was my dumbest new mom move (a couple of weeks after returning from maternity leave).

  26. I forgot to pack enough liners in the diaper bag. So I had a prefold and a grovia shell, I made it work.

  27. Lexi Conklin says:

left the diapers out to dry all night long and it stormed that night haha

  28. The first few times I did laundry, I forgot to re-zip the bottom of the wet bag before hanging it back on the nursery door. Dirty diapers – right through and onto the floor! I’m getting better, LOL.

  29. Annie T. says:

not bringing along an extra reusable swim diaper.

  30. Really, I have nothing. But, I will share what my dad did the one time I left my oldest with him for an hour in the morning and he had to change a diaper. He laid a trifolded prefold inside a stuffed pocket and put wool on top. Me thinks he really didn’t want to have to change him again. 😉

  31. The funniest mommy brain cloth diapering moment would be when I put my son in a nb diaper (at 6 months old) and though I had but the thing on wrong :)

  32. You become so frazzled trying to clean up after a diaper change that you throw the cloth diaper in the toilet, and throw the disposable liner in the laundry pail. Luckily each time I’ve done this I’ve realized it BEFORE I flushed the toilet lol

  33. My best friend put my son’s pocket diaper on him backwards. how do you even do that?!

  34. gina lee says:

Forgetting to turn on the washer after loading everything…to go along with that, putting about half the load in the dryer before realizing it had only been through the pre-wash rinse.

  35. Melanie says:

None for me, but daddy tried to put one on backwards :)

  36. Susan L. M. says:

I have done a whole complete wash cycle…with no detergent! Luckily, diapers don’t smell quite right without detergent :)

  37. Bridget says:

One of the first weeks we switched over to cloth, my son was maybe 5-6 weeks old and was up for a late night feeding. The second he was all snappied up in his prefold, he would pee or poop again! I went through 5 diapers in a ten minute period. I was so sleep deprived and heartbroken, but I remember thinking how glad I was that they weren’t disposables that I had just gone through!

  38. Sarah E. says:

I’ve found a cloth diaper in the laundry hamper. Luckily it wasn’t too dirty and I found it before I washed it with clothes.

  39. Cindy B says:

I had plenty of experience using cloth (having a brother 10 years my junior who my mom cloth diapered when we were kids)… so my craziest moment actually came when I flushed at least 2 maybe 3 diapers (these were the kind you had to pin) down the toilet that were soaking without realizing it… Thankfully somehow the septic handled it and nothing got clogged… my mom was astounded when she went to retrieve the diapers from the toilet and realized they were not only gone but that toilet was clogged. Knowing now what I didn’t know then… I’m rather astounded myself.

  40. Tried putting diaper on backwards & inside out at 2 different times. New mommy moment – 2 different colored shoes to work more than once (thank goodness for a desk) & my shirt or bra inside out also on several occasions.

  41. Mary Michaud says:

Those times I forget to check for poo when we’re making a run for the potty with potty training.

  42. I remember leaving the house with DS and forgetting the diapers at home. As a breastfeeding mom, it’s not necessary to fill the diaper bag with bottles, but a diaper or two is important. Newborns poop all the time!

  43. Jennifer B says:

Leaving a diaper in a wet bag … for weeks. Thankfully it washed out clean!

  44. Excited about the giveaway!

  45. This is definitely not funny, but I’m having an easier time laughing about it now. My spouse was trying to be helpful with the fluffy laundry. After the pre-rinse cycle was done (warm with no detergent), she put the diapers in the dryer. With a dryer sheet. Egads!

  46. Amanda Alvarado says:

I did a pre-rinse and did the regular wash, extra rinse, went to put them in the dryer and wondered why they still smelled – I forgot to put the detergent in when I started the wash cycle!

  47. Brittnay Urdahl says:

One time input the the diaper on backwards while trying to change at night in the dark:( still worked pretty well :)

  48. Brandi Elam says:

When we first started using cloth, I couldn’t figure out why his diapers all leaked at the tummy. The diaper would be barely wet but his stomach and clothes would be soaked around his tummy/waist area. I finally realized this was happening because I was leaving his little penis pointing up…not down. I’d love to claim this was my first time diapering a baby boy, but alas, it was not.

  49. Chrissy says:

I don’t have any mommy brain cloth moments as of now. I’m sure I will when I have 2 in diapers come October!

  50. Texas Momma says:

I ran the diaper wash once without detergent, I thought we had some really bad stink come on all of the sudden….
And I’ve given up on figuring out how to leave the house with a wet bag! I’m without one more often than not!

  51. I have forgotten a couple times to add detergent to my cloth diaper wash after the first initial rinse. Doesn’t take long to remember once the wash is done and you pull the stinky diapers out!

  52. Felicia R says:

Not funny.. but I’m always forgetting to throw liners away before putting the diaper in the pail so they end up going through the wash.

  53. Leslie G says:

Got all three kids ready and buckled in the car before seeing that I was still in pj’s. We all went back inside and 30 minutes later got back in the car and went to the zoo. Once there I found out I forgot the diaper bag. It was a fun and quick visit to the zoo.
