Cloth Diaper Essentials & Supplements Check List

Click on the image above to open the complete checklist.

I am often asked, particularly by my friends and local moms who start cloth diapering, what do I need to start? Or how many cloth diapers do I need to start?  Although the brands and styles you choose will be unique, I have made a printable check list of the essentials to help a cloth diaper newbie make sure they have everything they need to start.

These are the actual items I recommend starting with after you have done your homework to research what you want (and handled a diaper or two so you know what to expect). Still need some direction? Visit my Cloth Diaper 101 and Cloth Diaper Lingo articles about where to get started.

Once you have passed the newbie stage and want to add to your diaper stash, the Diaper Stash Supplements list on the bottom portion on the printable are great additions to consider, but none are essential for cloth diapering. Some products make washing easier, things smell fresher or dry faster, but they are for convenience or preference.

The free Cloth Diaper Essentials printable is for for personal use only, but if you have another purpose in mind please email and ask for permission. Thank you and enjoy!

  1. I don’t know that I agree that liners or a warmer are essential. I’ve been CDing one kid or another for 5 years now and I’ve never used a warmer and only used liners a few times. I’d say they’re more of a supplement type of thing. Another supplement is more wipes- you can never have too many wipes! ;)
