We had a fun weekend in St. Louis this weekend where we met with my older brother and his family to watch a baseball game. It has become a sort of tradition for us the past three years to meet for a baseball game in the spring or summer when the Cardinals play his favorite team: the Braves.
Baseball has always been a family event for us, from when my brother and I both played Saturday baseball together in elementary school, to the baseball games we would attend as a family growing up. My brother has continued to be a big fan and a baseball outfit and matching pacifier is a wardrobe staple for their son.
Which brings me to the other highlight of the trip which was being able to see their seven-month-old son who is my kids’ only cousin. The only time we had seen him was back in December when he was a tiny newborn and it was fun to see him sitting up, smiling and being excited to see us.
And like any good aunt I brought a little memento, as my mother-in-law calls them, and an early birthday present of sorts. A couple of summer outfits and a Pro Files: Baseball book for my brother to flip through and read to his little man. The book was more for my brother than his son, but hopefully they will enjoy looking through the pictures together as they share something he loves.
The book includes player profiles as well as tips to play like the pros and is a great way to welcome in the baseball season with your children. Look for the book at your favorite retailer or online. It will be sad to be further away from them, as they were our closest family just a couple of states away, but hopefully we will be able to come up with another annual tradition as we will only be four hours from my sister-in-law’s family when we move to Washington.
Pro Files: Baseball offers statistics and bios of the best players in Major League Baseball, along with in-depth analysis from stars and coaches. The 96-page hardcover book, with 100 action-packed colorful photos, profiles 15 of the big leagues’ hottest players and features signature content that includes: great writing, amazing statistics, and dynamic photography.
Pro Files: Baseball also delves deeper, providing insider secrets on how to hit, pitch and field just like the stars in the book. Experts break down skills and present drills so that young players can learn to play like the pros. In Pro Files: Baseball, fans will not only read all about Joe Mauer and his accomplishments, but they’ll also learn how to throw out a base runner like the Minnesota Twins star.
