My Daughter Now Loves to Mismatch Her Socks ~Plus~ The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes #Giveaway [Book] (11/19)

This was one of the books we took on our three-and-a-half week vacation in October and my daughter loves it. Inspired by the book, she has been mismatching her socks and my husband and I love that it reinforces that she doesn’t need to be perfect. In fact, she is much better that way! My husband and I also pronounce the heroine’s name differently, but that only reinforces the message of the book which is one I need to hear just as often as my daughter. I don’t need to be perfect either (although I am pretty confidant I pronounce it right!). Although the adult in me wonders why Beatrice would choose to juggle the three objects she did (as seen in the cover), my inner child knows that it is elements like that in the story that the kids really enjoy.

The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes would be a lovely book to give to a loved one this holiday season and to remind all of us that we only need to try our best and be ourselves. I found the illustration style engaging and almost reminiscent of a comic book with a couple of different sections or scenes to each page. My daughter loves the part where Beatrice mumbles to her friend Millie while she is balancing an egg in her mouth (as pictured on the back cover) and giggles on the pages that introduce her brother who is anything from perfect. To learn more you can visit Sourcebooks online or find the book at your favorite retailer.

Meet Beatrice Bottomwell: a nine-year-old girl who has never (not once!) made a mistake. She never forgets her math homework, she never wears mismatched socks, and she ALWAYS wins the yearly talent show at school. In fact, Beatrice holds the record of perfection in her hometown, where she is known as The Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes. Life for Beatrice is sailing along pretty smoothly until she does the unthinkable–she makes her first mistake. And in a very public way!

Win it!

I received a sample of this book to facilitate the review. No monetary compensation was received and the views and opinions are my own.
