Store Spotlight: The Glass Baby Bottle

This month we are looking at The Glass Baby Bottle, a retailer of (you guessed it) glass baby bottles, cloth diapers and other gear for baby and mom. I was just reading an article this week about the misconceptions of BPA-free and how the substitutes may not be any better than BPA so glass bottles have been on my mind. My little guy rarely if ever gets a bottle (I am too lazy to pump, but I plan to start once a week or so to get a little break every once in a while), but even for the occasional feeding I want it to be something I feel safe about. Get to know the owners and their products a little better below!

1. What inspired you to open your store?
My husband and I decided to open The Glass Baby Bottle after learning about
chemicals like BPA in 2008. We had used plastic baby bottles to feed our daughter
and were shocked to learn how chemicals can leach from plastic bottles into liquids,
such as formula. We started out just selling glass baby bottles but have, over the
years, grown to cater to the needs and wants of parents who are searching for healthy
alternatives to plastics, disposable diapers, off-gassing mattresses, to name just a

What continues to inspire you?
Getting the message out about the toxins we are all exposed to in daily life and, most
importantly, the safe alternatives available once we take the time to educate ourselves.

2. Recent best-seller at the shop? GroVia cloth diapers

Long-term best-seller? Lifefactory, Born Free and Dr. Brown’s glass baby bottles plus the EIO Kids Cup.

3. What is your favorite “go-to” cloth diaper/baby bottle/product?
Some of my favorite “go-to” products include the Gro-Via can i buy acyclovir online Snap Hybrid Diapers, the 5-
Phases Glass Baby Bottle and Graze Organics Re-usable Snack Bags.

4. What detergent are you using right now on your diapers/ laundry and what soap are you using to wash your bottles?
I love using Nellie’s All-Natural products. They have a great automatic dishwasher
powder and my all time favorite laundry detergent Nellie’s Laundry Soda (which is
safe for cloth diapers). I recently also tried several samples of Rockin Green Laundry
detergent and thought they where fantastic!

5. Share your latest must-have baby item!
Oh, this is really a hard one. But I have to say I LOVE the Beaba Babycook! I love to
cook and this is just such a clever, easy to use baby food making gadget.

6. If you could give one tip to family’s starting to cloth diaper or finding ways to “go green” what would it be?
Educate yourself and start small. Don’t expect to “green” your entire house overnight. I
am still finding ways to green our house on a daily basis. We recently started using cloth
napkins, instead of paper. Not only is it eco-friendly, it saves money. Also, I now clean
almost everything in our house with vinegar. I love vinegar!

7. Tell us something really cool about yourself (or include any other tid bits you want to feature in the spotlight!).
We love shipping to APO’s and FPO’s. Most on-line stores refuse to ship to military
addresses because it is more time consuming to fill out the packaging labels. Our attitude
is that it is the least we can do for military families.

This is part of a monthly feature to share stores with readers and to support retailers. I do not receive any compensation for these spotlights, but I sure hope you enjoy them.
