Some 2011 Goals

I know, I know, it’s a quarter of the way into 2011, but I had a one week old baby on January 1st and was in no condition to pull together any (rational) goals for the year. Blog or personal life. I figure I’d share with you the goals I had, things I hope to achieve this year on my blog and have some accountability since it will be in “print”.

Refresh my header and design. I am already on the waiting list for my original designer to freshen up my look and make it pretty. This may be the “I rearrange my furniture every couple of months” in me coming out, but I hope to make it even prettier on the eyes and easier to navigate.

Better, Cuter Pictures. This will probably involve getting a better camera, or learning how to use mine better, but we’ll see how the new iPad 2 I ordered performs. Go tax returns :-)

More active and Facebook and Twitter. I think I burnt myself out the first year to 18 months of blogging, because I was on all the time. I aim to find balance between being active on both networks, using it for more intimate conversations or discussions with my readers and followers and the share little sales, tidbits and other information in addition to review and giveaway for you to check out.

Tidy-up links and improve search function for diapers or other products. It is the season for spring cleaning and although I may wait to do a chunk of it until my new design is established, this is also to keep things organized, easy to find and pretty looking. I am also exploring how to allow you to look up more than one label (don’t laugh at me if you already know how to achieve this) or if the search bar is your best bet.

New Cloth Diaper Review Format. I know I have had this on my to-do list for quite sometime, but I am still searching for the “perfect” format. I like my general system, but want the ratings to be clearer within each style category. Know someone who is handy at coming up with pretty charts and things? Send them my way 😉 I try and learn what I can to save money, but some things are best accomplished by paying someone else to do it.

Part Time Job or Hobby? I need to really buckle down and decide which this blog will be. Well not really decide as much as enforce my desire. I obviously have been putting in the hours of a part time job since I started this blog two years ago, knowing it would take some time before I actually earned potential money doing it. And I have had the intent to make it a part time job I could rationalize the time I put into it (and away from my family), but most of my affiliate and ad slot money goes back into the blog in one way, shape or form as I keep up my domain, equipment and other subscriptions to make this all possible. Hopefully my upcoming make-over will be the last big chunk of money I put towards the blog for sometime so I can just focus on the maintenance and content.

So those are the main things I hope to achieve this year and keep this blog fun and informative to all. Oh….and just between you and me. I anticipate launching a second blog for my love of food, crafts and everything creative in the next month or two. These topics occasionally find a shout out on my blog, but typically is my “behind the scenes” life when I am away from this blog. I guess I am learning to feel more comfortable in my Mommy Blogger shoes and be more confident that this is my second job next to being a mom, not just a hobby.
