How Do You Stay Fresh as an On-the-Go Mom? ~Plus~ Carefree Giveaway (4/27)

As a busy mom I feel like I am always last when it comes to showers, sleep or food. In the midst of taking care of a house full of kids, pets and a husband it’s easy to feel stale and run down by the end of the day. There are little things we can do to help feel fresher, healthier and sexier amidst the daily hustle and bustle, and although I will be the first to admit I am not an expert on this, hopefully we can give each other some more ideas.

Just this week I wore my hair down and my daughter asked me “what is wrong with your hair?”, as she rarely sees my hair in anything but a ponytail. I laughed to myself and realized that I am past due for a hair cut (haven’t had one since, gosh, last year?) and some freshening up. Yesterday I wore braids, so that’s a start. I did treat myself to some designer “in between jeans” last month though, as I am in between my maternity and pre-pregnancy size (plus they were 50% off at Shopbop) so I haven’t totally toss my looks and style out the window.

I also find that it can be hard to keep up with make-up, keep my eyebrows groomed, or feel cute or pretty like I did in my pre-mommy days. In all honesty I don’t care as much as I used to, but I do know that having a cute outfit and some make-up on does make me stand a little taller and feel a little perkier. Who doesn’t love that “oh my gosh, I can’t believe you have two kids” reaction, right?. Below are some things I already do to keep fresh on-the-go as well as some things I plan on starting this month.

* Keep a set of mini tweezers in my purse (I love Tweezermans). The kids are going to fall asleep in the car from time to time and I can whip them out for a quick 3 minute grooming session. Lately, this is the only way I get around to plucking them!

*Keep mascara in my purse. I don’t wear mascara on a regular basis anymore (rarely, actually), but it can perk my sleepy eyes up and make me feel more put together when I don’t have time to put on any additional make up.

*Tinted moisturizer. This keeps your face soft, often protected (many will contain an SPF in the formula) and some sheer coverage in lieu of foundation or for a more natural look. I have two tubes, so I could easily toss one in my bag or just remember to start using it again.

*New hair-do. Ever since my husband met me I have gone through the “what should I do with my hair” dilemma. I go through cycles of cutting it, growing out long, cutting it again and growing it out…and although I may just get a trim until I make up my mind, I’m playing around with the idea of a perm. I have never gotten one and I think it be fun to have big wavy curls.

I was given the opportunity to tests the new Carefree ACTI-FRESH pantyliner and, like many of my examples above, they are something you can easily toss in your bag. They are 40% thinner now so you will barely notice them, they don’t take up much room in a purse or gym bag and this also means that much less waste than disposable liners have made thus far. I am a supporter of mama cloth, but I know mama cloth is not for everyone and there are sometimes where you just need the convenience of a disposable product.

They have also updated their packaging (see image, above), and you can also get a coupon or free sample for a limited time online. Visit Carefree online for their full product line and additional information about their company and products.
