I’m on a Mission to Shed Some Mommy Pounds!

Are you ready for spring yet? I’m sure depending where you live you are either already in outdoor weather or still weeks away, but I can say I am officially done with the cold! After sleet and freezing rain on Monday, we had a gorgeous day in the 70s yesterday, but have cooler stormy weather on the forecast the rest of the week. That is typical Missouri weather for you, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel as the mean temperatures rise!

I have done a good job losing my mommy pounds thanks to nursing and the Weight Watchers nursing program I started with my mom’s encouragement (she’s a WW veteran), so after just under 3 months I only have 10 pounds to go from my pre-baby #2 weight! I gained around 50 pounds in both my pregnancies, so I am pretty proud of my progress this time around compared to last time. I felt like it took me about a year to get to the point I am now the first time around (being 5-10 pounds from my pre-preggo weight), but the catch is that I started this pregnancy 20 pounds heavier due to the leg surgery I had done in 2009 that had me in rehab for a year.

My husband & I right before I got pregnant.

So my challenge to myself is to lose my baby #2 weight by this summer (I’m giving myself until May or June) and lose as much of my extra pounds by the end of the year. I recognize that I will be 5-10 pounds heavier as long as I’m nursing so I will take that into account with my weight goals and I hope to be as skinny as I was before becoming a mom before going and getting pregnant again down the road. I also want to strengthen my core and get more toned to support my back and body.

I was looking at old photos this week and pictures like the one to the left are my motivation (in addition to all my cute jeans and dresses aching to be worn again) and I know that the warmer weather will make a big difference in my weight loss. As I start going out on walks, jogs and add more exercise to my routine in addition to keeping up my healthier eating habits, I should see some more positive results. No “I’m eating for two” or “nursing” excuses to eat WAY too much this round. I mean business!).

I have a BOB jogging stroller and an itching to put our new Dualie model to the test as soon as my little guy is a little bit bigger and sturdier, and chose to review the Stroller Strides Fitness Kit and a Warm Stroller Fuzzy lining when given the opportunity from CSNstores.com. I chose the Stroller Strides Fitness Kit over the regular Dualie Console, because the zippered pocket was larger so it can fit my phone, keys and other things when I am not using the exercise bands and because it came with the resistance bands. I am hoping to start getting out with the kids once the weather is more consistently in the 60s, so the Warm Fuzzy insert will help keep my daughter a little warmer and I am contemplating getting a second for my little guy to use when we outgrows the BundleMe we have for him now. I can easily switch the Warm Fuzzy between the single and double jogging strollers, which is also nice if I only have one kiddo with my when going out.

CSNstores has competitive pricing for anything you can think of and I was pleased with the selection of accessories they had for our BOB strollers. They have the best price I have seen anywhere for the Warm Fuzzy right now and I have had it on my wishlist for about 2 years now and the Fitness Kit is also priced really well. I have CSNstores.com on my comparison list whenever I am online shopping now and actually just got a new ottoman this week we adore from their site this week. Anyways, my strategy for shedding more mommy pounds is eating healthier and getting out with the kids (my girlfriend who is working on getting her trainer certification is also hosting a weeklykid-friendly exercise group which will probably move outdoors when the weather warms up).

The concept is so simple, but putting it into actual with the business of mommyhood is another story, but so far so good! It’s definitely going much better this time around, but I also have a toddler to chase after which keeps me more active. So I want to know, What do you do to get your mommy pounds of and back in shape?

A gift code to use towards the products mentioned in the review were provided for this review. Any amount over this allowance was paid for personally. No other compensation was received and the views and opinions are my own.
