We love cartoons that combine fun animation with music, and they seem to be the shows that engage my daughter the most. She loves to dance along to music, sing familiar songs, and the Backyardigans encourage my daughter to try some new dance moves around the house and create her own. She is also full of imagination and most of her playtime is imagination-based as we play picnic, baby sister, or climb mountains and running away from monsters. A new Backyardigans DVD was released this week filled with fun story lines, dancing, music and, of course, lots of backyard imagination.
Our favorite episodes right now are probably the Elephant on the Run, as my daughter loves elephants, and Super Team Awesome, which is a great reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together. If you are not yet Backyardigan fans, I encourage you to give them a try as they are filled with adventure, teach different music genres and always have lessons to be learned and reiterated as your kids sing the songs to themselves throughout the day.
