Potty Training

I am excited that I will be adding a Potty Training section to my blog and hope to start reviews, articles and to provide resources to you later this summer and fall. Potty training is not a new topic in our home, although it been very recently that we are encouraging and praising it more regularly since my daughter has been showing significantly more motivation and interest. The last thing I want is for it to become an anxious topic, so I have had training seats and potties around the house for about a year now where we have played around with it and tried to incorporate it as a normal part of the bathrooms.

My daughter has good days, like last week, where she only wet a naptime and nighttime diaper, and I thought she would surely be daytime potty trained by the end of the month. And then we have weeks like this week where I am lucky to get her to sit on it once or twice a day…usually after it is already too late. But I remind myself that potty training is a verb and we’re definitely moving in the right direction, whether it is weeks (unlikely), months (more likely) or years (let’s not go there) ahead. I want to keep it a positive topic and opportunity for success and independence for her, so I am doing my best to be patient and upbeat!

One upcoming review I am excited about is for the new Prince Lionheart pottyPOD, because it seems so much more comfortable for my daughter and easier to clean for me! A win, win situation in my book. In addition to potty training gear I hope to be able to share some reviews of cloth training pants, when cloth diapers will work just fine, and other articles from my research, journey with my daughter or guest posts.

  1. I'm hoping to start working on potty training with my daughter in about 3 months, so I'm happy to hear you'll be doing reviews (and hopefully giveaways) of some potty training items. I'm especially interested in various brands of trainers/training pants.

  2. We are also potty training and I'm excited for all the tips and encouragement ahead:)

Good luck! I was a daycare employee and then a nanny for several years, so I helped a lot with potty training, but now that I'm a mom (9 month old son) I'm a little overwhelmed at the idea of it. On the one hand, no more diapers, but on the other…accidents everywhere!
