Does Anyone Use Swagbucks?

Search & Win

So I love blogging and heaven knows I spend hours on end writing, researching, networking and reviewing products. But at the end of the day it doesn’t really pay the bills. No worries, I have no plan to stop blogging as I absolutely adore it, but am looking for other ways to earn some extra spending cash to help contribute to my family. I was invited by a friend to join Swagbucks and have heard about it on and off for a year or so, but never bothered to look into it until now.

I signed up with a code she provided me and am still trying to figure out in the ins and outs and how to make enough points for gift cards to redeem for things for my home and family. Anyone out there use Swagbucks? Do you have tips, success stories or words of encouragement? I am online for dozens of hours a week, sometimes it seems for half of each day so I figure I can use the search engine enough to get some return on what I am doing anyways.

I have looked into a lot of my concerns and know dozens on mamas online who have used Swagbucks for some time, so feel that it is as safe and comparable to the shopping “malls” I have used in the past for airline mileage points. Is it something you have looked into or may be interested in getting involved in? I figure if you’re in the blogging world you are online enough to pop on the search bar enough to get little rewards for what you are already doing anyways.

I plan on mainly earning points for using the Swagbucks search bar for my own web surfing, but they also have trade-in credits and online shopping you can do to earn points I may consider at one point for another. If you’re interested in signing up or checking it out, I would love if you’d use my referral code http://www.swagbucks.com/refer/TheCDReport!

    Hi. I'm Terra and I'm a Swagbuckaholic. sigh :)

I've earned SO many amazon gift cards and papypal "credits" it's insane! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!

  2. Coupon Clippin' Mommy says:

    i love it too!

I love Swagbucks too! I have only been using it since last fall but I have already earned $25 in amazon.com gift cards! I don't search a ton so I am sure if you are on it a lot you could earn way more.

I don't really use it for anything other than searching either but I would suggest getting the toolbar. It allows you to search more easily, keep track of your swagbucks and every once in awhile they will have a code for swagbucks.

  4. Sounds interesting. I'm not sure if I would remember to use it. Let us know how you like it!

  5. I love swagbucks.
    Tips:
    - go through the special offers every day. Just skip the offers (unless you are interested). At the end just for viewing, you get a few swagbucks.

    - download the toolbar. While there are not often codes in the toolbar (once in a while there are), it will help you remember to use it for searching.

    - Sites like scspoiler.blogspot.com often post the codes on there.

I've redeemed for a bunch of prizes, from Starbucks cards to amazon cards… It has been worth it for me! Not big bucks (I'm guessing around $10 in GC's a month) but every little bit helps.

with not-out-of-my-way use, mainly of the toolbar search engine, i usually earn $5 amazon twice a month. :)

  7. I have been a member for a while. I find I get most of my "bucks" from special codes. They post them in the blog, on facebook and on their twitter. (Sometimes they will tweet sending you to the right spot to look for the code)

I've gotten several $5 Amazon cards, as I have found that one to be the best deal and I can always find something I "need" on Amazon!

The search engine isn't the greatest, but usually at least once a day with my searches I will be rewarded with some bucks and I do eventually end up finding what I am looking for – it just takes playing with my keywords a bit to get there.

  8. I love Swagbucks. It is so easy and really doesn't take that much extra time.

    ~ download the Swag toolbar
~ Get the Widget on your blog; you will get referral points
~ become a Facebook fan of Swagbucks. You get inside info when they have new codes out there.

I signed up recently and have just used the search and toolbar so far. It seems like lots of mamas from diaperswappers.com use it. It seems like the referrals are the real sweet spot, and I am sure you will get lots from your blog.

  10. I just started using Swagbucks a couple weeks ago. I normally just do the searches and I downloaded the toolbar. Sometimes you get a few bucks just by having the toolbar. I'll pull up the internet and it will automatically say "Congratulations! You just won 3 Swagbucks just for having the toolbar"

I only use it a few times a day ans got my hubby to use it for his searches and already have 216!

  11. Thanks for all the feedback so far! I'll get the hang eventually. Does anyone know how to change the size of the widget? It's too big for my margin….

  12. Terra Jones says:

I've been trying to figure that out for so long (the changing widget size), I finally just stuck it in my footer…I hate it so low, but, that's the only place it will work :(

  13. HappilyDomestic says:

Funny you should write about this because I recently blogged about what I won through swagbucks! go here to read it: http://happilydomestic.blogspot.com/2010/03/cashing-in-my-swagbucks.html

It did take me nearly a year to even win this though. You really do have to earn quite a few swagbucks to get anything worth while. Good luck! ;-)

  14. Lauren Kostantin says:

I use it everyday! I've earned a $10 Starbucks card and 4 $5 Amazon gift certificates. I love it! and I was very skeptical at first :)

I don't have any tips other than to download the toolbar. It makes it so easy to search and win!

  15. James, Andrea, and Clara Smith says:

I agree with many things said, I would just add that when you download the toolbar, use it for EVERYTHING for Amazon, Facebook, CNN, whatever you go to everyday (even your own blog!). I find that I don't really do enough interest searching to make it work and when I REALLY need to know something important, I go to Google. So, I use it to "search" for my favorites and I earn hundreds of bucks that way. It has a "memory" so it is a little faster, but it's just one extra step. If you use .com in the search, it will go directly there, but won't win you bucks. Oh, and any referrals you can get really helps. Also, I think the $5 Amazon card is the best (even better than the $50–I did the math!). Have fun!
