Mountain Green has 5 different detergents available, 1 of which can be safely used with cloth diapers in addition to any of your laundry. Baby Free & Clear is a different formula than their regular Free & Clear, Ultra Baby detergents or scented detergents, and unique from many Free & Clear detergents on the market.
The first thing you may notice is how small the detergent bottle is. The detergent is 3X concentrated so you are not paying for large quantities of water and fillers most detergents on the market have in their formulas (or the larger containers to store these extra ingredients in or additional shipping costs for more water). The 32 oz. bottles are good for 32 loads of regular laundry, or approximately twice as many loads for your cloth diapers (depending on the style of washer you have).
This detergent is 100% scent free without any masking agents, free of all the cloth diaper detergent “no-nos”, and comprised of natural and biodegradable vegetable based surfactants. I used this detergent on both my toddler’s laundry and cloth diapers and had great results. My daughter’s clothes came out clean and fresh and I did not have any built-up issues with my diapers. As with all detergents used for cloth diapers you will have to adjust the amount of detergent you use or the wash cycle you choose according to the style of washing machine you have. Note: this detergent does NOT disinfect your diapers so you will need to make sure you do this regularly in the sun or with other products to ensure your diapers are bacteria free.
Purchase the refill pouches to save additional money per load, and these are also available by the case for even more savings. The Baby Free & Clear can be used on all of your laundry if you want a no-fuss routine where the same detergent can be used or try some of their other formulas for your non-cloth diaper loads of laundry.
Dryer Sheets
I reviewed these with my regular load of laundry and they worked well. They controlled the static, added a nice gentle aroma, and were unique in that they were moistened. They are free of the chemicals many conventional dryer sheets are made of, so you can use them knowing you and your family has only the safest ingredients against their skin. These dispense out of a container much like cleaning wipes are sold in, which is different from what we are all used to I am sure! Their website has a link to a website that outlines the health risks in fabric softeners and dryer sheets, which may convince you to think twice about the laundry products you are using for your family.
*All Mountain Green products are skin sensitive and are compatible with HE washing machines. Also, Mountain Green products are free of harsh chemicals, phosphates, phosphorous, enzymes, PEG, polycarboxylates, benzene, cocamide DEA, chlorine, SLS parabens and artificial dyes.
Dish Soap
I have been using the Orange Burst Dish Soap and love it! It is 80% gone and I am actually eyeing their Fresh Green Apple version to refill it with, although, the Baby Bottle and Dishwashing Liquid would be perfect for sippy cups and baby bowls. The only thing is that I wish that it was a little thicker in consistency (concentrated) as it will seem runnier than other dish soaps you may be used to using, but this wasn’t something that would deter me from using it. Just be careful you don’t squirt too much out as it will come out a little faster and smoother than other “mega-store” alternatives.
