Prince Lionheart Warmies Wipes Warmer Review, Wipes Solution Recipes & Giveaway (2/3)

I am thrilled to share with you my personal #1 choice for cloth wipes storage. The Prince Lionheart Warmies Wipes Warmer is perfect to be used with cloth wipes for cloth diapering or as wash cloths to wipe sticky hands and messy faces. I would imagine this would be a welcome product in the bathrooms of “family cloth” households as well. This is my favorite way to store cloth wipes, because the wipes stay moist, do not brown (when used with their Everfresh pillow) and both the container and Everfresh pillows are treated with an EPA approved additive to inhibit the growth of microorganisms that may cause mildew, odors or spoilage. I am sure many of you have tried or currently use cloth wipes in old disposable wipes containers and have had to battle mildew and other unpleasant odors that may discourage or have deterred you from using cloth wipes.

I find that it is an easy way for me to keep cloth wipes moist and warm without worrying about mildew and odors, I only need to add water or wipes solution every 2-3 days, and my daughter loves the light on the front that serves as her nightlight. You can use plain water with your wipes (distilled is recommended as it stays fresh longer) or with your favorite wipes solution. I have listed some wipes recipes below from the Prince Lionheart’s website that you may want to try and make yourself and customize to your preferences or child’s needs.

My advice when using wipes solutions with the Everfresh pillows is that you will want to rinse and re-soak the pillows more often than the once a week the packaging recommends, since soaps, oils and other ingredients can make the pillow hard and dry more quickly. If your pillow gets dried out, rinse and massage it under warm water until it softens and place it back in the wipes warmer after you have re-saturated it with water. I recommend rinsing and re-soaking the pillow every time you add additional wipes and solution to your warmer (approximately every 2-3 days) and you shouldn’t have a problem.

Although their Ultimate Wipes Warmer (designed for disposable wipes) may also successfully be used with cloth wipes, I found that this cloth version was a little roomier and you don’t need to battle with the wipes dispenser on top popping open when accessing the main compartment to get your wipes out. The Warmies Wipes Warmer comes with 4 bamboo warmies (wipes) and additional wipes may be purchased or your own wipes and washcloths may be used. Although functional, the warmies weren’t my favorite wipes, but as I mentioned any wipes or wash cloths may be used.

WARMIES® Wipes Recipes

All-Purpose Wipes
For gentle cleansing and perfect for daily use

2 tablespoons Baby Wash (all-natural works best)
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
2 cups Water

Using a container or spray bottle with a tight lid, mix all ingredients, cover and shake to blend. If using spray bottle, spritz on each wipe prior to use. Or you can pour solution over wipes if using a wipes box using just enough to MOISTEN.

Aloe Vera Wipes
For soothing for mild skin irritations

1/4 cup Aloe Vera Gel
2 drops Tea Tree Oil
2 cups Hot Water

Using a container or spray bottle with a tight lid, mix all ingredients, cover and shake to blend. Let mixture cool before use. You can spritz on each wipe prior to every use or pour solution over wipes inside wipes box to prepare several at a time.

Essential Oils Wipes
For moisturizing dry skin

2 drops Tea Tree Oil
2 drops Lavender Oil
(Please be sure to use only pure essential oils – do NOT use synthetic oils.)
2 drops Chamomile Oil
2 cups Water
1 vitamin E Cap

Using a container or spray bottle with a tight lid, mix all ingredients, cover and shake to blend. Cut open vitamin E caplet and squeeze into the water, and add essential oil drops. Mix well in a spray bottle or your wipes box. Spritz on wipe before using if in spray bottle. Swish solution around over wipes if using a wipes box.

Soothing Baby Wipes
For yeast diaper rashes. Vinegar and essential oils discourage yeast growth

1/2 cup Distilled Water
1 teaspoon Vinegar
1/4 cup Aloe Vera Gel
1 tablespoon Calendula Oil
1 drop Lavender Essential Oil
1 drop Tea tree Essential Oil

Using a container or spray bottle with a tight lid, mix all ingredients, cover and shake to blend. Place wipes in a container and pour solution over them, moistening wipes. Store any extra solution in refrigerator.
NOTE: Using distilled water will keep fresh for a long time especially if you used distilled water.
CAUTION: If a baby had a really red, raw diaper rash you might not want to use these wipes as vinegar may cause a burning sensation.

CAUTION: do not use any of these recipes if Baby is known to be sensitive to any of these ingredients. If irritation occurs, please discontinue use and consult your doctor. Keep out of reach of children.
