Gorgeous, feminine, adjustable and trim, Lunapads may just change your view of “that time of the month”. Lunapads is a small, women-owned business in Vancouver, Canada and all of their pads are made in Canada. They are also involved in charity efforts around the world, and donate and raise funds to provide cloth pads to women in developing nations. You can donate pads through their site, ones you make yourself or cash to the great causes they are involved in here.
Lunapads are contoured and serged to ensure a trim yet absorbent fit, and they use a “sleeve” system where you can tuck in additional liners and wing pads into the decorative and functional ric-rac trim. They are made of 100% organic cotton (cotton also available) and have a thin layer of nylon in the base part of the pad for additional protection, but you won’t hear it or feel it. Although a higher price point than some of their competitors for their pads, their “all-in-two” style (can’t help but compare these to the different cloth diaper styles!) probably makes the investment about the same and possibly cheaper. The liners and wing pads are meant to be place on TOP of the pad so that they can be changed as needed while the same wing pad can be reused.
These pads were soft and comfortable, contoured well with my body and so many lengths, widths and styles are available that any body type or age group of women can find something to fit their needs. My only criticism is that I wish the ric-rac trim that holds the additional liners in place was a little sturdier, because it would twist around sometimes as I tried to slide the liners in place. I actually don’t need the additional liners for the most part so it is not a huge issue for me while using this system, but something to keep in mind if you think that will bother you.
The last item I was able to review was their underwear! These are a great way to keep things simple and have a set of panties for those 4-5 days a month. The panties alone serve as a liner for under a Diva cup, tampon or for extra protection any time of the month. The panties also use a similar system as the maxi pads so that liners can by changed out while you keep the same pair of underwear on. In comfortable organic cotton fabric, with a little stretch, these panties are available in 3 different styles and 2 colors.
Not sure what liner, pad, length or material is right for you? Check out their flow chart and after you decide which pads and liners fit your body best, shop their website by category. They also have wetbags, Diva cups, peri bottles (I use these to mix wipes solution as well, because they have the volume measurements on the side!), and even have a teen booklet filled with information for all of those questions we are hesitant to ask.
