I love to cook and don’t consider myself clueless in the kitchen by any means. After having my daughter, however, life has been, well, a lot different! This DVD set teaches straightforward recipes and tips for novice cooks, and provides easy and delicious recipes for busy families. It is also perfect for visual learners as cookbooks typically only display pictures of the finished product. Lastly, it is a great resource to learn a different style of cooking. For example, you may be okay with making dinners, but are brand new to the world of baking. I loved chef Gabrielle, but I am also a big sweettooth, so that was another reason I enjoyed the baking segment so much. Did you know making a chocolate ganache is as easy as 1-2-3?
The DVD was full of great recipes and tips although the clueless cook was often a little too clueless for my taste. I enjoyed how you really got to see the techniques at a slow enough pace to follow them, because I knew many of the methods, but was never sure if I was doing them exactly right. One example is in their Kitchen Essentials section they show how to trim the flank steak and also how to cut it on the bias after it has cooked an rested. I was never 100% sure if I had the anatomy of a flank steak right.
I would recommend this DVD set for anyone that likes to cook and wants to get different recipes and tips to add spice to your regular routine, as well as for newlyweds, busy families or couples and families looking to save money on their monthly restaurant or take-out expenses. Nothing saves more money, or adds as much love and warmth to a stomach as a home cooked meal! It would make a perfect holiday gift for anyone who loves food or for yourself! I already have my ingredients ready to make the super simple Spaghetti al Pomodoro for dinner tomorrow night, and feel confident in making it after watching this DVD.
