Name Your Tune Personalized CD Review

So if you've been following my blog for even a short amount of time you should know about my love for music. As a musician before I ever took on the title of mom or blogger, it is a key part of my life and in my home. We listen to music, sing songs, interact on the piano and guitar and personalize the songs we sing. Personalization has not been a luxury in pre-recorded music until recently, and Name Your Tune provides over 4000 names and each CD contains your little one's name over 80 times over the course of 14 songs (but don't worry, you can submit new name on their form as well). "It's a great way to enjoy music, have fun, and learn together! [And] a portion of the sales...is donated to Hear Here, a non-profit charitable foundation that purchases hearing aids for children".


I was more excited than my daughter when we first received our CD, because at 18 months her whole world revolves around, well, herself and she didn't think twice that her name was being sung. Partly because she is that 'id' or ego-central stage of development, but it is also something that we do in our home on a regular basis. Although she does not appreciate the clever way the names are integrated in the songs now, she will when she gets older. For now she just enjoys some of her favorite songs, as well as some new ones, in the car or at home.


My daughter's favorites are the familiar songs we have heard and sung such as If You're Happy and You Know It or Wheels on the Bus, but the other songs will soon become familiar favorites. I like that there is both a male and female voice over the course of the tracks and that they also use different genres and instrumentation in the songs. My favorite song is the Boom Boom, Ain't it Great to be You song

I was impressed that the names were integrated into the songs very smoothly and there were only a couple spots in a couple songs where I could tell it was pasted in. Not super obvious, but I was, after all, analyzing and reviewing it over the past few weeks! You will love it, your little ones will love the songs, and older children will think that it is the coolest thing in the world that their names are being sung. This is a perfect gift for any occasion at at $20 per CD (or $18 for 2 or more) it is affordable for birthdays, baby shower gifts, holidays and "just because" days. Oh, and if you really want to go all out they have a bunch of different personalized gifts to spoil someone special with a bundle of personalized things to go along with the CD.
