Pouch Sling

Similar to its predecessor the ring sling, the pocket sling goes across the body resting on one shoulder. The difference is that a pocket sling is sized, eliminating the need for rings. They can be quickly popped on and off as they don’t need adjusting and are great for quick trips and for newborns in the cradle position. They come in a variety of fabrics and are becoming a popular choice for slings for their ease of use. Keep your eye out for an adjustable pocket sling style being launched by Hotslings…

Pros: Super quick to put on and no adjusting and readjusting necessary as you wear it. Can accommodate newborns in the cradle position up to toddlers slung on the hip or back. Can be folded down very compactly and tossed in a diaper bag or purse.

Cons: Puts the majority of the weight on one shoulder, although some strain can be minimized by folding some of the fabric back over the shoulder, bringing baby closer to your body. There is some room for body change, however, not significant changes and can’t be handed down or exchanged as easily since it is a sized item.

  1. I am a fan of the pouch sling! I had ring slings also but just couldnt get them to fit right. these dont get twisted and are much smaller when folded down. i sewed my own and love it!

  2. I much more prefer the ring sling, especially the Over the Sholder Baby holder because it is padded.
