BUILT NYC Review

If you have been in the computer section of a store or are a Kleen Kanteen lover you have seen BUILT NYC products even if you didn’t realize it. They make their products out of neoprene, that material they make scuba wet suits out of, so it is stain resistant and insulates up to 4 hours (depending on external temperatures). Their products are PVC and vinyl free and are also tested for lead so that you can purchase their products rest assured that they are safe for your family.

Did you know that they have a whole line dedicated to Baby gear? From bibs to changing pads, they’ve got more than just the Thirsty Totes you may have heard of before. You can get a diaper bag, Thirsty Tote (note: the Thirsty Totes from the baby line have a snap closure handle so you can put it around a diaper bag handle or stroller etc.) I had the opportunity to review the Double Thirsty Tote from the Baby line as well as the Tasty Lunch Tote which is similar to the Gourmet Getaway bag from the baby line. Check out their full Baby line here.

We love that the handle of the Double Thirsty Tote, like the Single Thirsty Tote, snaps to anything we need to hang it on to and that it hold 2 bottles, sippy cups or juice boxes. Whatever we need to take on-the-go. This would also be great if you had two kids and you could keep both of their drinks in one place. I can wipe minor spills or messes off with a damp cloth and it’s great that I can throw it in the washing machine when necessary (caution: do NOT put it in the dryer).

The Tasty Lunch Tote was awesome on the go. I threw a drink, some cheese, snacks and even a toy and book in it and took it to go. My daughter loved carrying it around as well and quickly learned that it was where the snacks were! There are no pockets or dividers on the inside, however, so keep this in mind when you’re throwing food or beverages in it, but as long as they are in containers as they should be it should be fine. I think that the Bulldog Vine pattern for the Gourmet Getaway bag (slightly larger dimensions that the Lunch Tote) is TO DIE FOR! It is on my wishlist.

Tasty Lunch Tote:

  • INSULATES UP TO 4 HOURS DEPENDING ON EXTERNAL TEMPERATURES

  • MADE FROM NEOPRENE (THE WETSUIT MATERIAL)
  • SOFT-GRIP HANDLES

What else I would like to try:
Fishnet Market Tote and the Tidy Bib.

The Verdict:
I love my Totes and would definitely try other products in their different lines. I’d highly recommend the Thirsty Totes with the snap handle and a Lunch Tote or Gourmet Getaway bag for your lunch or goodies for the kiddos.

A Tasty Lunch Tote and Double Thirsty Tote were provided by BUILT NYC for this review.

  1. I know you have many reviews, but for someone who is just coming it cloth diapering it's a bit overwhelming. Maybe a spreadsheet with the info summarized and then a link to the full review for each product would be helpful.

  2. Don't change the number rating system, it's so easy to compare products!

  3. I know you don't have a shop, but I'm sure you know where online to get good CD prices. That would be helpful info for newbies.

  4. Don't change how your site loads, it's much faster than some other blogs and it's a pleasant change!

I could see that having your reviews catagorized by type and possibly brand and listed in a side bar or other central location would be very useful. If I wanted to compare your reviews for wetbags, for example, I could then see them all at once. Maybe this can be an additional tab at the top? Thanks.

  6. I can't really think of a tip to make it better… I love that you make it easy for your readers to do the tasks for your giveaway entries.. like subscribing to your emails or voting for you

I love that you put your current giveaways on your sidebar, as well as those coming up! That makes it easy and makes me want to come back. So don't change that!

  8. Please don't change too much or anything for that matter. I love the design of your blog. The layout is fantastic. I love that you do a spectrum of products and your reviews are sincere. I like that you are specific in your giveaway rules as well. I feel this a great site!(as is).

  9. maybe you can have link for any sales you know are going on on Cloth diapers or the accessories.

  10. Possible product to review is something from spunky sprouts games and activities section http://www.spunkysprout.com/activities.html

  11. I LOVE TCDR because I have just started cd'ing and is very helpful. However, I don't like when I receive your emails (via feedburner) that is just will say "Music, Photography, Laundry", etc. I like to see titles of post. Not sure about that…

I love your blog – as a cloth diapering mama I find your blog a great resource to read how you liked different diapers before I go buy them! I also love all of your giveaways. The only thing that I may suggest is cut down on the daily tweets – by the end of your giveaways, w/ so many entrants that result, I find your giveaway posts take longer to load. Otherwise – I love it!!!

I recently won an urban fluff diaper and have had super results with it! It fits both of my girls great and i've had no leaks – yay!!! I don't think I've seen you do a review on them yet and thought you might be interested….

  14. I'd love to see reviews on training pants. I'm on the potty training end of things and would like to avoid pull ups, but I hate cleaning up the puddles. Lots of WAHMs/companies make trainers (Antsy Pants, Imse Vimse, etc), but I haven't seen any blogger reviews.
    Thanks!

  15. I second Jackie on the tweets. I love your giveaways, but tweeting three times a day is a lot!! Thanks.

Wow, thanks for linking to "Prizey". For a giveaway addict like me, that's wonderful! : )

  17. Ryan, Corrie, and Max says:

Well, this might sound kind of stupid, but I like how when you click to comment, a smaller window pops up to do that. I dislike the blogs where you click to comment and it takes you to a whole new page instead of the one you were on. I also like how you have the giveaways listed up on the top with the dates and all.

    Bonus Twitter entry!

I have your Home for the Holidays button!

  20. Ryan, Corrie, and Max says:

I also like the ways you can get extra entries into giveaways- like tweeting daily, and multiple entries for doing something like having your button. When you only get one entry for having a button, it's not a whole lot of incentive to take the time to put it on your blog.

  21. I would really like to see a review of crib mattresses. It is hard to find a good review that actually names mattresses that are quality (and why) and economical. Thanks!

  22. I think info on sales, good deals and great online shops would be wonderful! I love the "tips" section too and would like to see more posts there!

  23. Just wanted to say I <3 your blog!
    Ditto to Marianna's comment:)
I would love a reviews on educational toys, games and crafts.

I can't beleive that I had not entered this yet!!
I say don't mess with the cloth diaper tips and info. I have been cding for as old as my little guy 16 months, but I definately don't know a whole lot and I am learning from you. I love all the reviews and giveaways, esp. cd's! The Tips section is great as Marianna said. I also like Jennifer's idea of reviewing educational toys. ITs always hard to know what is good, there is so much out there.
